Creating a new page

Step 1. Login to the administration interface.

Step 2. Then to create your page following the instructions in this video: http://mcbuzz.wordpress.com/2007/10/24/wordpress-tutorial-how-to-create-a-new-wordpress-page/

Step 3. Go the edit section of the page you just created. If you haven't already, give the page a logical name. Best to use the existing naming convention.

Step 4. Open that page and either write or paste in what you want on that page. Eg you might want to paste in your latest newletter for people to read.

Step 5. Once you have done that, check on the front end to make sure everything is how you wanted it to be. To check the front end, right click the 'View' link and choose 'Open link in new Window'.

If you need to make changes to you page, follow the steps in this tutorial to make any neccessary changes.

Step 6. You may want your new page to fall under a main page. Eg you may have a generic newsletters page, and under that would be a number of pages of past newsletter. Think of it like a family tree.

Step 7. To get your new page to fall under another page, you need to go to the page you want to be a child, and look at the right hand col for the box called 'Page Parent'

Step 8. Choose the page you want to be the parent.

Step 10. Next you may need to create a link to this new page. To do that, first copy the website address of your new page.

Step 11. Then, go into the edit section of the parent page where you want the link created. Write the words that you want people to click on to take them to the new page, eg 'click to see my new page'.

Step 12. Select this text and click on the 'create link symbol'

Step 13. A pop up window appeared. Paste in the address of the new page you just created.

Step 14. Click insert.

Step 15. Once you have made all your changes click 'Save and Continue Editing'.

Step 16. Then check on the front end to make sure everything is how you wanted it to be. To check the front end, right click the 'View' link and choose 'Open link in new Window'.

Step 17. Check the changes you made. If you need to make more changes go back to the administration interface and make the changes you want. If you are finished completely logout.

Step 18. If you are having problems or have questions there are a lot of free tutorial on the web. There are also forums where you can ask questions. Just google either 'free wordpress tutorial' or 'wordpress forum'.
